“Me So Lovely: The Show!”
Live in Toronto at the Workman Arts Theatre: August 8,9,10 2008
From a cast and crew spanning more than seven international countries and the hearts and souls of women everywhere comes a totally original world premier show: ME SO LOVELY. Performed by professional and non professional actors as a series of monologues in a style made famous by Eve Ensler’s pioneering work on The Vagina Monologues, ME SO LOVELY captures the bold heart and the vulnerable soul of our physical and social stigmas; with pathos and humour.
Written by British author Julia Hague. produced by Canadian director Daphne Simone and Canadian producer Jaclyn MacRae (associate producer of the 2007 Toronto production of “The Vagina Monologues”), the play follows the emotional and physical self-esteem challenges of 16 women from around the world. By delving into the everywomen; the everygirl; the everyperson; ME SO LOVELY casts her into the all too harsh spotlight which shines on a world defined by physical and social stereotypes.
Join us for the inaugural run of ME SO LOVELY as it makes its live theatrical debut in August, downtown Toronto at the Workman Arts Theatre before moving on to Vancouver, B.C. and London UK.
In proud partnership with Plan Canada’s “Because I’m A Girl” campaign and the National Eating Disorder Information Centre of Canada (NEDIC), 100% of the show’s profit from ticketsales will benefit these charities.
There is truly no limit to what can be accomplished when like-minded Human spirits unite in friendship to redefine the status quo.
Join us and rally against the social stereotypes surrounding personal self-worth and physical self-esteem.
Donations of any size are gratefully and lovingly accepted:
Even $5 towards the theatrical presentation of “Me So Lovely” will help and we would be pleased to add your name to our program as a contributor and family member. It does not have to be money. If you would like to offer any kind of support or assistance, we would love to hear from you.

Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to be posting the first comment on the website for “Me So Lovely”.
Me So Lovely is not just a show, it’s a journey and an ethos. An ethos that every single one of us is beautiful on the inside and the outside and is worthy of everyone’s respect, everyone’s love, everyone’s admiration.
Knowing how to love yourself is the first step on this incredible journey. Recognising that there is everything to love about yourself puts your feet on the path.
We’ll help you. Join us, lend us your light (and it’s yours to lend) and together we *will* make a huge difference to how people feel about one another and how we feel about ourselves.
You are all beautiful!

Oh wow! I can’t tell you how excited I feel about this and how sad I am to know that I won’t be able to be there for the shows debut.
Congratulations ladies on putting this project together. I wish you all the very best and all the success you deserve.
Perhaps one day when the show grows immensely popular, which I’m sure it will, you can pop down under and put on a show down here in Melbourne. I’d be more than happy to assist in any way possible.
Will you be considering making a dvd of the show for those who are unable to attend?
This is going to be absolutely awesome.
Thank you!
Yours sincerely,
Chelle DB

It has to be so fulfilling and exciting to take an idea and shape it into a piece of work which will bring it to life. It sounds like this is a labor of love.
I wish you every success!

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, Julia.
This is an awesome project, and I hate the fact that work will stop me from being there.
Good luck, and I hope it all goes wonderfully.
Love and hugs,

Just found this show by accident! Would it be a suitable venue for a girls 16th birthday? Would several 16 year olds be allowed to see the
Toronto show without an adult with them?

It’s a PG show, our playwright is also a mother who was quite conscious of that as she wrote the monologues. There’s no adult rated content involved, and language is nothing you wouldn’t see on prime time television. I’d say it’d be lots of fun! But I am a tiny bit biased. Cheers for your support! Hope to see you in August~!
Blessings,

Hello Everyone,
This is such a wonderful project. I want to say congratulations and thank you to everyone who’s involved so far, this is going to be a wonderful success.
I actually have a question for Julia, I’m part of the Brandon University women’s collective and we are looking for new and exciting shows to bring to our city. We would love to perform Me So Lovely as a fundraiser for women’s organizations here in our city, and we were wondering if that is at all a possibility in the relatively near future??
Two years ago we produced The Vagina Monologues and raised over ten thousand dollars for charity with only 3 shows! Now we are in search of another wonderful show and I believe we have found it in Me So Lovely!
I send love to all those in the show, may the world embrace you with all the love and admiration that you truly deserve. Julia, you have such a beautiful spirit, thank you for sharing it with us and thank you for reminding us that we are ALL beautiful!

Thank you for your lovely words to the cast and production team on Me So Lovely. And for your lovely words to me, Jocey.
In answer to your question about the possibility of allowing MSL to be performed elsewhere, that has certainly not been ruled out, but there are no final decisions on anything until after the Toronto run.
So in the words of the age old saying - Can I take a brief rain check on answering that one please?
I do hope you are coming to see the show. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
And yes, you are *all* beautiful!
Julia
